Description

My entry for the zeldafreakhall 'Zelda Reborn' contest.
Everything here has reason behind it.
Blue Dress: Zelda wore blue in her character art for A Link to the Past, so this is in a sense homage to that, only slightly more elegant without the tragic hairdo. Also, the three goddesses (Farore, Nayru and Din) have certain colours. Link wears green (Farore's colour), Ganondorf wears red (Din's), so Zelda should wear blue (Nayru's). Makes sense.
Headdress: Zelda's tiara always seemed a little butch to me. So I made it more delicate and added dangly chains like the tiaras/crowns wore by Arwen in 'Return of the King' and Satine in the finale of 'Moulin Rouge.'
Spots on the hangy thingy at the front: Ocarina players, you know this! Each colour represents the Sages, with the downwards pointing triangle symbolising Zelda's Triforce of Wisom. The Triforce at the top is a no-brainer and the red bird seems to be the Royal Family's symbol (I think it's a Phoenix, personally, and it suits the 'Reborn' concept).

I didn't want to completely change Zelda's design, because I have liked her more recent incarnations. I was going for elegance and feminity, and my friend Pauline summed it up by saying that she looks like 'a fairytale Princess.'

Hate to blow my own trumpet, but I'm really proud of this. ^__^ It's kept me sane over the exam period, and I'm pleased with the development of my pencil shading skills. I don't like her hands, but apart from that I'm very happy with it.

4H pencil, Artacolor pencils and black pen (with touch-up in MS Photo editor)
